Grey Man
Lyrics
Love rivers overflow
An intimate light of gold
Am I a lover
Or a haughty enlightened elitist bloke
Cause in my mind
I am lonely all the time
Lonely all the time
Cartesian obscenities
Served up as epiphanies
I roll each blunt and smoke each one
As I succumb to pseudo-remedies
Heady and heartless god
I bow to you in the parking lot
In my mind
I’m lonely all the time
But at least I fall in line
With the madness of the times
My damn mind again
Setting fire to Father Time
Starting famines of the divine
I’m lonely, lonely, lonely all the time
The saddest of creatures
Some semblance of Nietzsche
But it’s a place I hide behind
The sadness of nihilistic teachers
Heart is on high alert
Enlightenment has me cursed
In my mind
I am lonely all the time
Even though I fell in line
With the madness of the times
In my mind I am lonely all the time
Lonely all the time
Burdened by the breaking point of brightness
These are the years for the left hemisphere
I’m made in a robot’s likeness
It’s a harsh blue light
And I’m barely human
Walking in lockstep with the masses
Towards the massacre of the masterfully
And wonderfully
Inspired, enlightened and illumined
It’s insanity, the saints I revere in the 21st century
Societal malpractice
Snapping selfies with arms around my surrogate
Living like an empirical data point
In an empirical empire living sensibly
Manhandling mystery
Automated symphony
Steeping in servility
Sweet sycophancy
I self-congratulate
My senseless celibacy
The Grey Man has his arms
Reaching towards me to disarm me
And save me from the storm’s brutality
Too bad I live in a time
When ghosts are fantasy
A dark age of practicality
And vulnerability’s not practical
So I’m sardonic and satirical
In this reality
Where the only thing that matters
Is what’s measured and I die
In absolute absurdity
It’s a phenomenon when everyone’s
Living like they’re tough as shit
If I’m overwhelmed at the prospects of love
Then I find the hippest ways to pacify it
I’ll drown my sorrows in cabernet
While you polish your presentation like a candidate
Searching for a vice or a vintage mirage
That our left-brained society can validate
